Dr. Michael A. Thomas is a board certified neurosurgeon who practices general neurosurgery with a specialty in minimally invasive spine surgery, skull base and endoscopic brain surgery. He treats conditions and diseases affecting the nervous system, which includes the brain, spine, spinal cord, and the peripheral nerves. Dr. Thomas has been referred to as a patient-focused professional and a conscientious and skilled neurosurgeon by his colleagues. He is certified by the American Board of Osteopathic Surgeons with a Neurosurgical discipline and the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners.

Dr. Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from William Jewell College in Liberty, Michigan in 1987 and earned his medical degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1991. He did his post-graduate training at Tulsa Regional Medical Center. He did his post-graduate neurological training at a number of locations including Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Schneider’s Children’s Hospital, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic, North Shore University Hospital, NYU, and NYUCOM.

Dr. Thomas practiced general neurosurgery in Washington state for 17 years before coming to Florida where he completed a spine fellowship at the University of Miami in March of 2015. While in Yakima, Washington, he worked as the Chief Neurosurgeon at the Central Washington Neuroscience Center and had a private practice. Throughout his career, he has performed a variety of procedures and has created a number of videos to teach medical students at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences. He is currently licensed in both Washington and Florida. He has previously held licenses in Oklahoma and New York.
